How to Grow Mums From Cuttings

The cuttings of mums are able to be taken from established plants in the garden from early spring through early summer. This is a cheap technique to grow more plants in your yard or for collaborating with gardening buddies.

Take cuttings in springtime

Move the plants inside for a few months before taking cuttings. Move your outdoor plants into a cool indoor area, such as an overheat conservatory, before collecting cuttings. The temperature around 45 degrees Fahrenheit is excellent.

Move the plants indoors

Make the compost mixture. Fill a plug trays or individual pots with cutting manure or a compost-perlite mixture. If you're making a mix, combine 4 parts ordinary compost and 1 part perlite. You could want to add some additional perlite to the compost trays.

Prepare the compost mix

Incorporate the clippings. Each cutting's cut end should be covered with hormone rooting powders to a level of about half an inch prior to planting. Shake gently to get rid of extra. Make a hole into the compost with a barbecue stick, a pencil.

Plant the cuttings

Put the cuttings-filled trays in a plastic bag. To prevent bag forms touching the cuttings if you do this, bury some sticks in the soil. To create a  greenhouse, slice the spout off from a transparent plastic beverage bottle and place it upside down over the cutting.

Enclose the trays

Till they begin to grow roots, keep cuttings within a cool, well-lit area. Maintain the chrysanthemum cuttings away from direct sunlight in a location that is well-lit. Ideal location is on a window sill that doesn't get direct sunlight.

Temperature

The established cuttings can be staked for added stability. Before planting the cuttings outdoors, let them harden off. Cuttings grown either indoors or beneath glass will require some time to acclimatise to life outside. Before planting.

Plant Outdoors

Early in the summer, when young plants are around 20 cm (8 in) tall, pinch off the main growth point to promote branching. Until about mid-summer, you can pinch out the pointed ends of sideshoots while they grow. As a result, plants will get stockier.

Pruning

Keep the organic matter dry and keep in an airy location (a cool greenhouse is excellent). Potted plants can be relocated into a cold conservatory or another sheltered area and kept dry as described above. Start watering in the beginning of spring to promote growth.

Overwintering

Three months from the day of sowing, the blooms are collected every four days. Flowers that are fully opened are harvested with or without peduncles for floral arrangements and garlands. Flowers are sent to shops and markets for sale free in baskets made of bamboo.
